Winter Wormin’ & Strange Creek Initial Lineup Announcement!

Howdy folks! Spring is right around the bend and things are poppingup all around Wormtown as we gear up for WINTER CARNIVAL and, of course, STRANGE CREEK 2010! More on that below. But FIRST…

BATTLE OF THE BANDS: DATE CHANGES and VOTING BEGINS! 

We had to move the days of our battles to Wednesdays, so the dates are now April 7, 14, 21, and 28. Still at the Elevens in Northampton, everything else the same! VOTE NOW! The “ballot” of contestant bands is ready for voting on the WORMBOARD , so jump in and help us determine who will be competing for slots at STRANGE CREEK 2010!

“SO,  WHO’S PLAYING at this year’s Strange Creek Festival?”  We get asked this a lot, and we can finally dangle some fun answers to that question… with many more to be confirmed and announced soon – ths is just the tip of that big fat funky iceberg!

The 2010 Strange Creek Battle of the Bands!

ALL SHOWS 21+  and ALL SHOWS ((FREE!!!))

Here’s how it works:
We love our music-makers, and hear from many MANY many of you who want a spot on the Strange Creek schedule of performers. Thing is, there’s only so many available slots to fill. So… to give some of these upcoming artists a chance to SHINE and WIN their way IN, we’re holding a BATTLE OF THE BANDS at The Elevens this April!

Since there are only so many time slots available in the battle,
we’ll have an internet VOTE first to determine who plays in the battle.

STEP 1: GET ON THE VOTING BALLOT!

Send an email to Derek@Wormtown.com with the following information:

  • In the subject line put: BAND BATTLE: [your band name].
  • Please include primary contact (email and phone); web address(es); ONE SENTENCE that describes your music; and a LINK to your MUSIC! Video links are cool too. [Note: we reserve the right to decide whether or not the music is appropriate to our event]
  • A quick review of places and events you’ve played before

ALL ENTRIES *MUST* BE RECEIVED BY MARCH 1, 2010

STEP 2: GET YOUR FANS TO VOTE!

All accepted entries from the first step will be included in an online poll in the MESSAGE BOARD section of wormtown.com (board registration required). It will be up to you to encourage your fans & friends to vote you in. The TOP 12 bands by vote will be offered a chance to participate in the Battle, with scheduling to follow. Voting will run through March 20. Schedule for the battles will come out shortly after. TOP TWELVE BANDS BY VOTE WILL WIN A PLACE IN THE BATTLE.

STEP 3: BATTLE IT OUT!

The 3 “qualifying” rounds will be on April 8, 15 and 22, with four bands per night. Set times will be determined by vote counts, or at our discretion in the event of tie. April 29 will be a Finals round with the three winners of the first rounds.  Winners will determined by draw, crowd response, and judges’ decision if need be.  The top winner wins a time slot at Strange Creek 2010! Keep in mind that bands who didn’t win have been “discovered” and offered appearances at the festival based on these battles. You never know… so bring your “A” game and show us why we should book you! Note: A ‘house’ drum kit is available – bring your own cymbals & snare(s).

A QUICK IMPORTANT NOTE:

While the term “battle” does imply competition, at WORMTOWN we are all about music, community, and POSITIVE vibes. So please, don’t let the competitive aspect bring out unpleasantbehavior.  We know its very hard getting your music out there. We know you deserve your piece of the rock & roll glory, and hopefully that day is coming.  Please RESPECT fellow musicians and fansand make it a night to enjoy. (This includes respecting the schedule, players!) After all, it’s exposure for your music, it’s free to attend, and you want to make a positive impression. It isn’t easy to choose among so many talented performers, so let’s keep it light-hearted and friendly. There are no “losers” in this game; music is a wonderful force that we all share in, so keep that in mind have some fun! Who knows what could happen? (In other words, don’t be a dick if you don’t win. Dig?)
